What I liked about the class was that I learned ways to better yourself. I was also able to learn a bit of coding from w3schools. I learned how to become a more effective person. This class helped me with personal development. It was also very helpful when we got time to work on our flash cards. The flash cards have been helping me with AP Chemistry. I have a better understanding on what it means to choose the right.

When it comes to things I didn't like about the class I really don't have any complaint. I enjoyed everything about it. It really helped me improve on myself.

Some recommendations for improving the class is maybe allowing us to spend more time learning how to code because I thought it was really interesting.

A highlight for me in this class was learning about personal development. Also sharing out answers out loud. 

I think I really did my best in class and it reflects by the grade I have for this class. I worked hard and always stayed on task and made sure I didn't fall behind.

I am reading my life planning goals and writing in both goals and sharpen the saw parts. Last month there were days where I missed but in December I've really tried and it shows because I'm yet to miss a day in December.

I am committed to being a CTR person and seeking personal development because this class has shown me how important it is.

Key 1: Clarity

"have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life. Have a sense of direction and know where you're going. If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work for others who do."

                        The first key is clarity. Clarity means to have a full understanding of what you want to do and knowing what you have to do to get there. The quote,"have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life. Have a sense of direction and know where you're going. If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work for others who do." shows that you should have an idea of what you want to do in life. If you don't have any goals you won't ever get anywhere and you'll be stuck. To have clarity is important because it shows that you have a clear understanding of yourself and that you have set out goals to better yourself.

Key 2: Competence
"If you commit to excellence, opportunitites will always come your way. The harder you work, the better you get."

                          The second key is competence. To be competent is the ability to do something successfully or efficiently. The quote,"If you commit to excellence, opportunitites will always come your way. The harder you work, the better you get." shows that if you really put your mind to it you will always receive better opportunities for yourself. It's important to work hard because it shows work ethic and it also shows that you want to make something for yourself. Being competent is important because it shows that you want to strive to be better and that's how people become successful because they work hard throughout there life.

Key 3: Concentration

"Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself "Is this the best use of my time?" before you start anything."

                           The third key is concentration. To be concentrated is to be focus and making sure that you don't let simple things distract you from your goals. The quote, "Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself "Is this the best use of my time?" before you start anything." shows that you shouldn't let things distract you from your main goals. By showing concentration you show that you are determined and that you want to achieve your goals. This key is an important to personal power because it shows determination and it shows that you want become better and that you alre always focused for what's best for you.

• Learn from setbacks

                             The fourth key is common sense. To have common sense is to think logically and trusting yourself. It's important to have common sense because it allows you to make quick decisions and helps you think rationally. If you don't have common sense you won't think of the possible outcomes that can come your way. By thinking like this you won't be able to distinguish from what is right and wrong. It's important to be able to determine from what is right and wrong because it shows the type of person you are. Listed above are four key components to thinking with common sense and will allow you to be better and be more effective as a person and help you with personal power.

                   

Key 5: Creativity

" Except the fact that every human being is a genius. The hallmark of creativity is asking questions. The people who are most creative ask the most questions."

                                The fifth key is creativity. Creativity comes in many ways and it's important because it's a way to express yourself. By expressing yourself you show your capabilities and what you like. The quote, " Except the fact that every human being is a genius. The hallmark of creativity is asking questions. The people who are most creative ask the most questions." shows us that people who are really creative ask a lot of questions because they want to see how far they can think out of the box and show with what they can come up with. Creativity is an important  key because it allows you to express yourself and it's a good way to show your personal power.

Key 6: Consideration

" The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life"

" Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator. Take courses in listening, speaking, etc"

" If you were to learn one new word a day, within 5 years, you'll be the best educated person in history."

                              The sixth key is consideration. To be considerate will help you better understand and being able to communicate better. You show that you are able to respect other people's opinion. The quote, " The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life" shows that if you are able to work better with other people you can get very far. This key is important because it shows a lot of character and it also helps you better yourself. There are also many ways that can help you build this skill the quote, " Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator. Take courses in listening, speaking, etc" shows that you can always work on this skill and will help you a s a person.

Key 7: Consistency

" Dependable, steady predictable work is always superior to fast spurts of work."

                                 The seventh key is consistency. Consistency is important because you show that you always work hard and it shows that you can be reliable. By showing consistency you show that you are always going to put effort and that you take your time to show quality of work.                                       The eighth key is commitment. To be committed shows that you are driven and focused to pursue your goals. The ability to commit yourself whole heartily is the basis of achieving all success." shows that without commitment success wouldn't be possible because you show lack of effort and you are unwilling to pursue your goals. The second quote, "Become totally absorbed in your work. Be totally committed." shows that you should always put all your effort into what you are doing so you are able to reach your goals and achieve success.

Key 9: Courage

" The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life"

                                       The ninth key is courage. To have courage is an important characteristic to have because it shows that you aren't afraid to take risks. To have fear holds you back on a lot of things for example going out and accomplishing your goals. The quote," The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life" shows that you shouldn't be afraid to go chase your goals or dreams. Courage is an important key to personal power because it means that you aren't afraid to take a chance and that you won't let anything hold you back. As long as you aren't afraid to take risks you will see that there isn't anything that can hold you down.

Key 10: Confidence

"You only get confidence by doing things over and over again."

                                       The tenth key is confidence. Confidence is important because it's what helps you get over fears. The quote, "You only get confidence by doing things over and over again." shows that by practicing and doing things over again it will help you build confidence so you won't be nervous. Confidence also shows that you have faith in yourself and your abilities and that's important because if you continue to doubt yourself you'll see that you won't get anywhere. Confidence is an important key for personal power because it helps you believe in yourself and you'll see that no goal is unattainable. 

Reflection 

                             The 10 keys to personal power benefit you because it helps you be a better version of yourself. It also helps motivate you to pursue your goals. By applying these 10 keys to your life you will see the positive impact that it will have on your life. The keys that I am applying now into my life are confidence, courage, and consistency and it has helped me throughout my school work so far. I will incorporate the other keys into my life planning plans by always keeping them in mind and always trying to apply them into my life.

             What I learned from hearing Covey speak was that we only see the personality in people when there is much more. He gave us an example of the ice berg we only see the top that sticks out not everything that hides underneath it. With people most of the time we only see their personality but it also comes with a lot of character that we don't see. He also talked about trust and how it plays a huge factor when you are talking to people. You need to show that you are trustworthy.

On Saturday I took the SAT. I felt like I did very well I never really had trouble with any of the questions. On Sunday I had a game It was important that we won because it would mean that we would be in 2nd place in the league. We were able to win 4-0 and I managed to score 2 goals.

Habit 1: Be Proactive

"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says,"I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude.I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

               Habit 1 says to be proactive. Being proactive is important because it shows that you are not a lazy person. It shows that you like to get things done.                   Habit 2 says to begin with the end in mind. To begin with the end in mind is to know where you want to be or the things that you want to accomplish. In the quote,"Control your own destiny or someone else will."(Jack Welch) is saying that you should want to know what you want to accomplish and set out goals for yourself. If not then you are allowing them to make the decisions for you. there is another quote that says, "When you know where you intend to end up, you know where you are now."(Covey) and it is saying that if you know what you want to accomplish you know the necessary steps to get there and how far you are to get there from your current state.

Habit 3: Put First Things First

"Organize and execute around priorities."

                    Habit 3 says to be organize and execute around priorities. To put first things first means to prioritize your goals so you can succeed. The quote,"Organize and execute around priorities." shows that you should set your mind on the important things first that will help you become someone in life. If you aren't focusing on what's important then you won't grow as a person and you will be stuck in the same situation instead of improving from it. By putting things first will allow you to achieve goals and will help you be more productive instead of wasting your time and not getting anywhere.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win

                       Habit 4 says to think win-win. By thinking win-win you only recognize success and you don't even think about failure. The quote,"Organize and execute around priorities." shows us that we should focus on the tasks that will take you further so you can get the outcome you would want. By thinking win-win it will help you better excute your plans and help you overall as a driven person who want to succeed and do better for themself. If you only think about the postive and the upside of things for taks you many not nessacarly want to do it will better help you by motivating you do complete your priorites.

                        Habit 5 says to seek first to understand, then to be understood. What it means it is to be able to communicate because it will always be the most important skill to have.  The quote, "Diagnose before you prescribe." also shows that you be able to know what you are doing before you can speak on what's wrong. Being able to communicate is important because it shows that you understand what is going on and how to deal with a certain situation. If you are able to communicate properly you will see that it is easy to get your point across and it will also allow you to be understood.

"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)"

                         Habit 6 says to synergize. To synergize means to be cooperative and being open minded. It's important to synergize because it shows leardership and it shows the type of person you are. It's important to be open minded because not everyone is going to agree with you ,so it's important to hear what they have to say and also being respectful of it. The quote,"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)" shows that you should strive for greater things. Being synergize helps you as an overall person and allows you to grow.

                            Habit 7 says to sharpen the saw. To sharpen the saw means to imporve yourself in all important aspects. The quote, "The four dimensions of self-renewal: Physical, mental, spiritual, social/emotional" shows the aspects you should focus on to lead to a better lifestyle and to be an effective person. By doing this you are bettering youself and focusing to be a successful person. It's important to "shapen the saw" because it shows that you want to improve youself and will lead to a better life. By working on yourself to be better you will see that you will start becoming an effective person and you will be able to influence people so they can do the same. 

Reflection

                            The 7 habits of highly effective people give good advice on how to become one. It shows you the steps and how you can better yourself to become an effective person. By following these steps you can find yourself really becoming a better person. It shows how you can better characterize yourself. What I will do do make sure I apply these habits into my life is constantly reading them. By doing this I will always remember what I need to become one thus helping me as a person.

This weekend I went to the L.A galaxy game with my brother and some friends. It was fun I got to see my favorite team play live and I always have fun when I go to the stadium. I also had a game on Saturday we played against the 1st place team and we managed to tie. I was finally able to score after going with 4 games not being able to score. I was upset when we tied.

          Rule one says to become genuinely interested in people which means to actually care and here what they have to say. It shows great character and makes you more appealing to people because they see that you are actually interested in them. This helps you connect with people and overall can influence the people you are talking to. If they see how respectful you are to others they will probably do the same because they can see how people enjoy your company. Asking questions also helps because it shows that you want to get to know them better and that you actually care about learning about them and hearing what they have to say.

Rule 2: Smile

  1)"Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says,"I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you."

  2)"You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."

          Rule two says to smile.Smiling is a simple rule but also an important one because it shows that you are friendly and welcoming. Like in the very first quote "Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says,"I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you" shows that you are interested and it will allow for people to like you and can influence them. It can influence them in a positive way because they see how you are always smiling and you look happy that they would want to do the same. Overall it changes how people see you if they see that you are always smiling they are more prone to like you because you seem like a friendly person.

Rule 3: Remember names

 1) "A man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."

 2) "If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."

           Rule three says to remember names. Being able to remember names is really important because it shows that you actually took the time to remember it then treating it like it's not important. like in the second quote "If you don't remember names, you're headed for trouble." and it's true many people get offended when you don't remember names because it feels like a big insult to someone. That's why it is important to remember people's name so you never put someone in that position. By doing this you can also avoid an awkward situation and overall makes you look better because it shows that you care enough to actually remember someone's name.

Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.

 1) "If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."

 2)  "Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems."

                Rule four says to be a good listener. Being a good listener is important because shows that you care about what people have to say. It also helps with being a good conversationalist like in the quote "If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener." shows that its important because it makes a person more likable. It is also a key part in being a good conversationalist because you how that you care and that you are willing to hear out others people's problems and help them. It also helps others to talk about themselves and allow them to open up to you more.

 1)"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."

                 Rule five says to talk in terms of the other man's interest. I agree because if you talk about the other persons interest it makes them want to interact with you and the conversation will be more engaging. Like the quote "The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most" shows that by talking about the other persons interest it makes you more appealing. This is important because people would want to talk to you more and overall be more friendly since you can connect with them. By following this rule you will see that the conversations would be more engaging and people would want to talk to you more.

                   Rule six says to make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely. It's important to do this because it shows that you actually care and that you take the time to hear what they have to say. Like the quote "The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature" shows that it's important to make a a person feel important because it is one of the most important desires. By doing this you will be more appealing to people because it shows that you actually care about the other person so they are more interested in you and would want to talk more. By following this rule you will see that more people will enjoy your company and would like to be around you more often.

                   The six ways to make people like you is an important to do and learn from because it helps you grow as a person. These steps are important because it helps you learn and what I will do so I can apply these six rules to my life is constantly remind myself and read the rules everyday. it will help me apply them to my everyday life and become better. You can learn a lot from these six simple steps.

Reflection: I would like to attend to this school it has a lot to offer just in case I Decided to change my major. It seems like a very nice campus and I would like to attend to this school because of the variety of majors and what they offer here at this school.
